Please include as much information as possible! If any of the following information isn't included in your job posting or description, please add it here: - Why is your company investing in community? - What department(s) does community live under? - Who will this role report to?
Community is our core business. We invented a way to solve extreme poverty that depends on 1 thing: the adoption of the Glo dollar. Goal is to build a social movement of Glo adopters who use it because it's the ethical currency. We don't have departments yet, but marketing. Will report to C-suite.

The Glo dollar is the anti-poverty version of the dollar. The more it's used, the more basic we generate for people in extreme poverty. If enough people adopt Glo as money in their daily lives, we can end extreme poverty.

We’re building the community of early adopters of the Glo dollar, a non-profit, fully backed stablecoin. As much as possible, Glo enthusiasts try to use Glo rather than USD whenever they do money things. At first, this means converting some unused savings to Glo. But over time we'll make it possible to use Glo for payments and receiving your salary in. As more and more people do this, we'll be able to generate a basic income for millions of people in extreme poverty.

Building community at Glo is going to be unlike anywhere else. We’re sparking a social movement of people—and later companies—who use Glo as a currency because they want to see the number of basic income recipients go up.

We're still (very) early, but Glo has the potential to revolutionize philantrophy. Right now, "charity" is synonymous with "donating money". We're inventing a second way to contribute to charity, which we're calling passive philanthropy. Analogous to passive income, passive philantrophy doesn't cost money or time, but rather happens as a side-effect of using money. This new model has the potential to be a breaktrough in the fight against extremy poverty.

We want to market using Glo as a currency as an ethical choice, not unlike driving electric or eating less meat. If you’re pro-UBI and want a fairer economy, you use Glo.

We're a non-profit. Unlike with most cryptocurrencies, no one is making money here (except the recipients of course).

We’re looking for a strategic Head of Community manager to

  • Shape the culture, systems and structure of our social movement
  • Design and execute on the various ways for Glo enthusiasts to get involved and contribute to the adoption and advocacy of Glo
  • Define, drive and evaluate success metrics of the Glo community
  • Figure out the right cadence, style and media of progress communication. We're going to lift more and more people out of extreme poverty. How do we rally the community around this in the most productive and compelling way?

You’ll be able to set this up from the start and scale it globally. As Glo grows, you’ll build out the community team and scale the community into a broad social movement.

We’re looking for people that:

  • Have a track record of strategically designing, running and scaling a community
  • Are scrappy, pragmatic, self-starting, strategic
  • Have a spidey sense for community sentiment and opportunities
  • Are effective in leading the rest of the team in their interactions with the community

No need to check all of these boxes! If you resonate with some of these, we’d love to talk.

The kind of things you’d be doing:

  • Design, grow and manage a global movement of Glo advocates
  • Create the environment in which community members can feel true belonging, involvement and ownership
  • Build the community team
  • Set up and run community communication platforms
  • Design commitment slopes, funnels and involvement programs
  • Design and implement periodic communication around growth and success
  • Work with marketing to set up growth campaigns
  • Work with the economics team to run initiatives that solve bottlenecks for Glo adoption and demand
  • Work with the whole team to make sure we’re connected to the community

What we offer

  • Full remote—live your life the way you want to
  • An amazing offsite week every 3 months, somewhere around the globe
  • Competitive salary (but no stock options or premine—we’re a non-profit)
  • High end gear of your choice
  • Unlimited PTO and birthdays off
  • Generous benefits tailored to your locale (e.g. health insurance/pension/401k)
  • Access to conferences and events

Why join Glo

  • Help create a new, scalable way to reduce extreme poverty
  • Work on crypto that’s useful and good for the world
  • Very high-impact work—you’ll be one of Glo's early employees
  • Fast-paced trajectory—we’re well-funded and aim for massive mainstream adoption
  • Non-profit with startup mentality—our founding donor, Sid Sijbrandij, led Gitlab from zero to $15 billion IPO
  • The adventure of a lifetime. Solve never-done-before problems in finance, tech, growth and many other domains

Sounds like black magic? Or too good to be true? Here's how it works

Glo is the "boring" kind of dollar-pegged stablecoin. You give us $1, we send you one Glo. We make sure the Glo is always worth $1 by holding a big bag of actual dollars that backs every Glo out there in the world. Whenever you want, you can get your $1 back.

It's the same thing Tether and Circle's USDC are doing. These are direct competitors of ours.

There's one difference: we're a non-profit. Circle and Tether's business model is to earn a bit of interest from that big bag of dollars by investing it in very low risk stuff like govt bonds. We do the same, except we give all of that interest away in the form of basic income to people living in extreme poverty.

The more Glo adoption, the more interest we earn, the more people we can support with a basic income. We're lifting people out of poverty and literally the only limit to the scale of this model is how much adoption we can drive.

About us

Glo is a nonprofit startup striving to end extreme poverty. We’re launching a new stablecoin, intended to be adopted by the mainstream. As adoption grows, we generate more money to give away for free, in the form of basic income, to people in extreme poverty directly.

Unlike most web3 jobs, this one is fully dedicated to solving a big social challenge (global poverty) and is a non-profit (no one is making money except those in poverty). I've been increasingly picky about which web3 jobs I accept on here, and this one really impressed me.
